Why We Need Community + New Guest Post Series

Hi Friends!

Community has been on on my heart lately. One of my prayers it that this blog become a community for us to be our real selves; a place where we can feel safe to show our imperfections and bold enough to encourage one another.

My life and faith wouldn't be the same without the supportive group of friends I have. There was a time in my life when I lived away from my family and couldn't make a friend to save my life. I've been on both sides of the fence and that's why I'm passionate about it.

The greatest thing community does for me is remind me that I'm not alone. So often in our struggles and hardships we feel as though we feel alone, as if no one could possibly understand. We ate tempted to keep things to ourselves for a few reasons:

  • Fear of Judgement from other's
  • Shame and/or embarrassment
  • The belief that no one will relate to us

We Overcome The Enemy By The Blood Of The Lamb [Jesus] And The Word Of Our Testimony. - Revelation 12:11

That's why community is vital. I promise you no matter what you're facing there is someone out there who can say, "Me too". But we'll never realize that we aren't alone unless we have the courage to raise our hand and share our story.

Our testimonies - how God is working through us  and how he delivered us from our sin and bondage - are simply our stories. All we need to do is put our trust in Christ and share our story. Our adversary, the devil, wants us to feel shame and keep quiet - but Christ came to bring us freedom. There is no longer any condemnation for those in Christ (Romans 8:1). We are free, and now it's time to share our story so that others can find that same freedom.

For the next several months, this blog is to be a platform for all of our stories. The Series is called, 'Letters to the one'. The idea of the series is to write letters to each other sharing our testimony. Each post will focus on a specific theme or issue. Examples include: abandonment, loneliness in single-hood, depression, body image, self-confidence, and so on.  The title of each "letter" would be "To the one who [insert topic] (Ex: battles depressions, hates her body, just wants to be married already" - to name a few). The possibilities are endless.

This series will in January in 2017. If you'd like to be a guest blogger please contact me and I'll send you all the details!

Ready. Set. Let's build each other up :)

Let Us Hold Fast The Confession Of Our Hope Without Wavering, For He Who Promised Is Faithful. And Let Us Consider How To Stir Up One Another To Love And Good Works, Not Neglecting To Meet Together, As Is The Habit Of Some, But Encouraging One Another, And All The More As You See The Day Drawing Near. - Hebrews 10:23-25
